We are delighted to announce that famed tech incubator and investor, Y Combinator, will be taking part in Legal Innovators California, on June 11 + 12. At the same time we can also announce the members of our Startup Gallery at the landmark event in San Francisco.

Plus, to provide additional insights into the field of investing into legal tech we will be hearing from Chris Fisher, Founder & Managing Partner, Myriad Venture Partners, and Zach Abramowitz, CEO of Killer Whale Strategies.

And, for the young companies taking part in our Startup Gallery – which we developed in order to support founders in the early stages of their business – each day we will be holding a pitch competition in front of the audience, with the prize simply the kudos of winning.

At present we have the following taking part in the Startup Gallery section of the conference:

Riskaway – Risky is an AI legal agent for companies. Risky can autonomously complete legal tasks or engage human lawyers when needed.

Beagle – Beagle is the end-to-end AI-native eDiscovery platform that speeds up document review, surfaces key info quickly, organizes findings, and provides insights

&Ai – Agentic AI for end-to-end patent prosecution & litigation workflows in one secure, collaborative workspace.

TrialKit – Simplify discovery review, save time on data management, streamline case preparation, and focus on strategic victories.

SimpleClosure – Closing your startup is hard. We make it easy.

LegalMed – Virtual Urgent Care Visit and Entry Injury Assessment with Legal Documentation Pricing

Crimson – the AI productivity platform designed for litigation lawyers.
Answer case-specific questions, find key evidence and streamline case management.

MyAIDrive – AI Workflows for All Your Documents. Chat with multiple PDFs for free! Unlock advanced AI agents, folder chat & OCR.

Now, back to Y Combinator. Along with companies such as Uber, Google and Meta, and leading tech sector-focused law firms such as Wilson Sonsini, Cooley and Gunderson, we are really excited to add to this stellar group with: Jonathan Levy, Managing Director, Partnerships, and Carolynn Levy, Managing Director, Legal, at Y Combinator. They will have plenty to share on how they see the legal tech market and why investor interest in this field is now greater than ever.

And it’s worth mentioning that we are seeing increasing numbers of legal tech and adjacent companies now joining Y Combinator cohorts. For example, patent-focused &AI – which is taking part this year – and also Solve, were both recent cohort members.

All of the above underlines Artificial Lawyer’s, Cosmonauts’, and the entire Legal Innovators conference series’ commitment in New York, London and California to the startup world. After all, each of the giant tech companies mentioned above was once a startup. And of course, as we are in the heart of the Bay Area, what better place to have such a great group of lawyers, companies and investors all with deep insights into the life, challenges and opportunities of creating a new startup?

Talking of companies that were once startups, our top sponsor this year is none other than Harvey, a legal tech business that can certainly claim to have brought new energy to the sector and grown from idea to rapidly expanding company.

Plus, the startups and investment aspects are just one facet of Legal Innovators California. Across two days – June 11 and 12 at the CJM, 736 Mission St –  we’ll be exploring a wide range of subjects that sit at the intersection of legal tech and the business of law: from the evolution of innovation teams inside law firms, to legal ops roles in a genAI world, to how litigation is changing because of LLM technology, to improving law firm and client engagement around tech-supported relationships. There’s a lot happening!

If you would like to attend the two-day event for some top level learning, sharing and networking, please see more information and tickets here.

See you all there!

Richard Tromans, Founder, Artificial Lawyer + Conference Chair
