With the resounding success of its recent AI model drops at the I/O 2025, Google is back in the game. The Sundar Pichai-led company, with Dennis Hassabis at the helm of DeepMind, the company’s launch of a host of AI suits, including Veo 3, sent Google’s stocks soaring. Shares of Alphabet, the Google parent, went up by 5%, with Morgan Stanley suggesting BUY! Amid such optimism, the company is on a hiring spree even as AI-enabled layoffs are surging across MAANG companies. But someone’s gotta man the wall as rivals burn midnight oil to drop the next big thing.
Glad tidings for the desis who are seeking an opportunity to join the credit rolls of Google’s ongoing endeavor for AI supremacy. Google DeepMind India, based out of Bengaluru, is hiring. The hiring alert posted by Aditya Timmaraju, a senior staff at the company, stated that Google is looking for research engineers. The post doesn’t mention how many. Suffice to say not one.
Per the job listing, an ideal candidate should have/be
BSc, MSc or PhD/DPhil degree in computer science, mathematics, applied statistics, machine learning or similar experience working in industry
Well versed in Python or C++
Knows algorithm design
Knows machine learning and statistics
Experience in ML frameworks like JAX
Experience working with LLM’s training
Other skills include the cliched corporate requirement of strong communication and interpersonal skills
The research engineer roles entail assist the team in “developing and productionizing large scale foundational models towards the end goal of solving and building Artificial General Intelligence.” candidates can apply here.
