Face recognition has a bad rep in the ML community. While the technology continuously advances, so does the resistance against its applications, with good reasons: AI emotion analysis hints at a dystopian future where our lives are completely governed by algorithms. However, we must be realistic about what is and isn’t possible with AI, and while current systems are not the most accurate, denying the link between your facial expression and your emotions is not productive either.
