Perplexity has announced a new ultra-premium subscription tier called Perplexity Max, aimed at its most demanding power users. Unveiled in a company blog post, the new plan carries a hefty price tag of $200 per month (approximately Rs 17,063 per month). This makes it as pricy as OpenAI’s most expensive subscription tiers.

Perplexity Max is designed to provide advanced tools and access to cutting-edge features with priority usage of the most sophisticated AI models currently available. This move positions Perplexity alongside other major AI players like OpenAI, Google and Anthropic, all of whom have introduced similar high-cost premium services to cater to their most demanding customer base. OpenAI was notably among the first with its $200-per-month ChatGPT Pro plan.

What does Perplexity Max offer

Subscribers to the Perplexity Max tier will gain:

– Unlimited Labs access: Full access to Labs, Perplexity’s proprietary tool for generating spreadsheets and detailed reports.

– Early access to experimental features: Priority entry to new and experimental features, including “Comet,” an AI-enhanced browser currently under development.

– Prioritised AI model access: Preferred access to services built upon top-tier AI models such as OpenAI’s o3-pro and Anthropic’s Claude Opus 4.

The Max plan sits atop Perplexity’s existing subscription offerings, which include a $20 per month Pro plan for individual users and a $40 per user per month Enterprise Pro plan. An enterprise-tailored Max plan is also in the pipeline, but its launch date is yet to be confirmed.

Who should get Perplexity Max

In a note on Perplexity Blog, the company clarifies that the following people should get Perplexity Max subscription:

– Professionals who need unlimited access to comprehensive analysis tools.

– Content creators and writers who require extensive research capabilities.

– Business strategists conducting competitive intelligence and market research.

– Academic researchers working on complex, multi-faceted projects.
