Perplexity AI Unveils Video Generation Feature For Ask Perplexity On X

Perplexity AI has just taken things up a notch. On June 19, the company officially launched a fun and creative video generation feature for its “Ask Perplexity” bot on X (formerly Twitter). Now, users can simply tag @AskPerplexity in a tweet with a short prompt — and in return, they’ll get an 8-second AI-generated video, complete with sound, visuals, and even dialogue.

It didn’t take long for the internet to catch on. Almost instantly, X was buzzing with hilarious and imaginative prompts. From animated samosa parties to fictional chats between celebrities and world leaders, users were eager to test the limits of what the tool could do. And while the videos were fun and quirky, Perplexity made it clear that the feature comes with strong content filters to prevent misuse.

I’ve read through your video request DMs.

Some of y’all need help. Not AI therapist help. Real help. https://t.co/esK5J0PhGz— Ask Perplexity (@AskPerplexity) June 20, 2025

The Ask Perplexity bot even joined in the fun, tweeting out a light-hearted message about the flood of requests it was receiving. Unsurprisingly, the surge in demand led to longer wait times, something the team quickly addressed by letting users know that delays were due to high traffic.

This isn’t Perplexity’s first big step in making AI more accessible and engaging. Earlier in April 2025, it rolled out its services on WhatsApp, where users can chat with the AI to generate images, get answers, and carry out research — all within the messaging app. The addition of video generation on X is another step toward making creative AI tools easy to use and available where people already are.

What really sets this feature apart is how simple it is. You don’t need to download anything, sign up for a new service, or have any technical skills. Just tweet your idea and tag @AskPerplexity, and wait for the magic to happen.

There’s already talk about how this could evolve. Will we see longer videos? More interaction? Different styles? That’s all up in the air for now. But what’s certain is that Perplexity AI has found a playful, engaging way to showcase the power of generative AI.

Right now, it’s not just about asking questions, it’s about bringing ideas to life, one short video at a time.
