Perplexity’s AI-powered web browser is now free to download worldwide.
Perplexity AI’s Comet browser is now free to download worldwide. The AI-powered app launched back in July for Perplexity Max subscribers who pay $200 per month.
Perplexity is known for its search engine, and also announced a Comet Plus revenue-sharing subscription service in August that gives users access to “trusted” media outlets like the LA Times and Le Monde. Just a few weeks ago, Mark Zuckerberg tried to demo Meta’s latest AI efforts and fumbled through the Meta Connect presentation, so the bar is a bit lower for privately held Perplexity to wow an increasingly skeptical public with this new browser.

Perplexity also teased new features for the Comet mobile app called Background Assistant. Head over to Perplexity AI’s Comet website if you are interested in downloading the free Comet browser, and keep and eye on our AI topic page to stay up to date on this emerging technology sector.
