Perplexity AI assistant now live on WhatsApp: Expanding smarter search to global chats – Technology News

In a major move to make AI-powered search more accessible, Aravind Srinivas led Perplexity AI has officially launched its assistant on WhatsApp. The announcement came through a post on the company’s official X account, confirming that the integration is now live.

Perplexity, which has quickly gained popularity for its intelligent, conversational search capabilities, is now taking a big step forward by embedding itself directly into the world’s most widely used messaging app. WhatsApp offers a massive global platform and Perplexity’s integration means users can now access advanced search tools without ever leaving their chats.

Previously, Perplexity AI and Grok emerged as the two chatbots accessible directly on X (formerly Twitter). Users frequently invoked these bots during conversations on the platform to fact-check claims or gather more information on specific topics.

The company emphasised that the rollout isn’t limited to users in the United States — the goal is to make the service accessible worldwide. By bringing search directly into conversations, Perplexity hopes to redefine how people find and share information during real-time messaging. Whether it’s quick fact-checking, exploring new topics, or pulling up the latest news, users can now rely on Perplexity’s AI without switching apps or interrupting the flow of conversation.

This move also reflects a broader trend of AI tools becoming deeply embedded into everyday digital environments. Rather than requiring users to open separate apps or web browsers, companies like Perplexity are meeting people where they are — making technology more seamless, intuitive, and conversational.

Perplexity AI is quickly joining the ranks of ChatGPT and Gemini as a go-to chatbot for quick queries, real-time searches and deep research. With the AI-powered search engine and assistant now available on iOS, it has become even more accessible for daily use.

What sets Perplexity apart is its ability to deliver direct, conversational answers synthesised from multiple sources, unlike traditional search engines that primarily list links.

By providing summarised responses with cited sources, Perplexity builds trust with users, offering not only clear answers but also the ability to click through and independently fact-check the information if needed.
