Do you remember the 2023 episode of controversy related to OpenAI CEO Sam Altman when he was fired? Turns out that Amazon MGM Studios is working on a movie to depict it as a drama and is looking at Hollywood’s top talents to give it the best shot. The movie, which is expected to be called ‘Artificial’, will be directed by Luca Guadagnino and could include Spider-Man 2 fame star actor Andrew Garfield.
The film, which is likely to be shot in San Francisco and Italy, will hit the studio floors in summer, revealed The Hollywood Reporter. The movie’s plot will depict Sam Altman amidst the 2023 management crisis in OpenAI, wherein he was fired by the board members and Mira Murati was appointed as the interim CEO. Altman returned to his post five days later and changed the company’s structure to resume normal operations.
Artificial’s cast is likely to include some prominent names from Hollywood, with Andrew Garfield stepping into the shoes of Sam Altman. Daisy Edgar-Jones or Matilda Lutz as Mira Murati and Yuri Borisov as OpenAI co-founder Ilya Sutskever will complete the leading cast, says the insider report.
The movie is expected to have a satirical comedic vibe to the entire incident, says the report. Hence, you can expect the movie to showcase Sam Altman as the protagonist of the story, battling the board of directors, with Mira Murati being the neutral one. With production hitting the floors this summer, you can expect the movie to release sometime in 2026.
In recent news, Sam Altman acquired the hardware startup ‘io’, founded by ex-Apple design chief Jony Ive. The mandate is to build an AI companion device that is less intrusive in our lives, with Sam Altman suggesting it to be the coolest piece of technology the world will ever see.
