July 16 – At a Beijing technology expo on Wednesday, Nvidia’s (NASDAQ:NVDA) chief executive Jensen Huang praised China’s artificial?intelligence offerings, from Deepseek to Alibaba (NYSE:BABA) and Tencent (TCEHY), as world class.
The remarks follow Nvidia’s announcement a day earlier that it would resume shipments of its H20 AI chips to China after securing U.S. government assurances linked to rare?earth material negotiations.
On his third visit to China this year, Huang pointed to the market’s scale and inventiveness, suggesting American firms may receive export licences sooner rather than later. He noted that many order books are already in, implying a strong pipeline of demand.
All chip orders destined for China must be filed with U.S. authorities for clearance. Industry insiders report that Deepseek, Tencent and ByteDance are preparing applications, although ByteDance has publicly denied submitting any requests.
In parallel, Nvidia is designing a new, export?compliant graphics processor, the RTX Pro GPU, to cater to Chinese customers under the current trade framework.
