Maman has opened its door to its newest flagship location, and it’s a design dream.
The popular New York City cafe opened its latest brick and mortar in the heart of Manhattan’s Flatiron District, packed with whimsical design elements. With a menu and design inspired by the South of France, Maman has become the place to be for both locals and visitors alike.
The hand-drawn and hand-painted walls feature a custom toile mural by artist Joel Haynes. Taking over 60 hours the complete, the mural wraps around the wall, with the narrative illustrations taking inspiration from the spirit of Maman. Haynes also worked on the illustrations at the Maman Wynwood location, which was the brand’s debut in South Florida.

The murals have been designed in Maman’s signature color scheme — blue and white. Paired with white paneled walls and light wood flooring, Maman cafés often have a soft and soothing feel, regardless of how busy they are with guests who are trying out the unique menu — which is Oprah-approved.
Playful floral designs dominate the space, bringing in a hint of nature. In the murals, hidden nests, birds, bees and eggs — a dreamlike touch never before done by the brand. According to the company, it was designed to symbolize a poetic link between café culture, fashion, and French heritage.
Bright and airy, the building maintains its original marble pillars and features a soaring ceiling that helps to open up the space.

Outfitted with vintage furniture imported from France, there’s an authentic charm in every inch of the space.
The flagship store brings unique experiential elements have never been seen before at other Maman locations. A dedicated private event cellar and cocktail bar is the idea spot for corporate gatherings and big celebrations. There’s a children’s play nook styled with French books and Lalo furnishings and a wraparound espresso bar designed with Maman’s signature custom-printed machines. Floral installations were made by Floratorium, while Candice Kaye is a longtime collaborator of the brand, designing the wallpaper, takeout cups and more.
Spanning across 7000 square feet, it’s Maman’s largest location to date that marks a major design evolution for the beloved brand.
