Maison&Objet hosted an exclusive Women & Design dinner at The One Club in New York City, gathering 27 designers, editors, and creative leaders for an intimate evening celebrating women shaping the future of global design. The event was co-hosted by Maison&Objet Managing Director Mélanie Leroy and U.S. Ambassador Nina Magon, and included a private walkthrough of Printemps followed by a seated dinner and a Q&A conversation between the two women. Discussions centered on the importance of creative leadership, international collaboration, and Maison&Objet’s evolving mission to spotlight fresh talent and purpose-driven design.

Maison&Objet’s goal was to create an intentional space for celebrating and amplifying women in design, highlighting their unique contributions, challenges, and global impact. The evening served as a catalyst for conversation, mentorship, and collaboration. Looking forward, they aim to replicate this initiative in major design capitals around the world to foster a more interconnected, empowered international community of female creatives,” shared Magon. “Maison&Objet seeks emerging artists who are not only technically skilled but who demonstrate a clear voice, a commitment to innovation, and a design ethos rooted in meaning. Purpose-driven design, in their view, is work that transcends aesthetics; it responds to social, cultural, or environmental needs and contributes to shaping a more thoughtful and inclusive future.
Magon was chosen as the U.S. ambassador based on her commitment to pushing the boundaries of global design, ongoing collaborations with international brands, and her passion for celebrating diversity in design, “As the U.S. ambassador, my role is to represent Maison&Objet’s values to the American design community, build bridges between U.S. and international talent, and help amplify emerging voices, particularly those of women and underrepresented creatives,” she explained. “Emerging designers are placing greater emphasis on sustainability, cultural authenticity, and cross-disciplinary collaboration. To support their growth, the design community must continue to invest in mentorship, visibility platforms, and funding opportunities, especially for female creatives whose voices have historically been underrepresented.”
Creating these spaces is essential as visibility and connection can transform the trajectory of a designer’s career. Honoring women in design validates their work and opens doors to mentorship and collaboration. “By creating opportunities for dialogue and support, we help build a stronger, more balanced design industry,” added Magon

The panel explored the power of female leadership in design and how intentionality, resilience, and collaboration are shaping the next chapter of our industry, discussing the importance of authenticity, representation, and the responsibility designers have to lead with purpose. Maison&Objet also honored award-winning interior designer Joy Moyler and BB Italia’s designer director, Orane Abezis, as the 2025 Women in Design Award nominees, recognizing their work as leading voices in the industry. “This year’s recipients are visionaries who embody the spirit of purpose-driven design. Each has contributed meaningful work that reflects not only innovation and craftsmanship but a deeper mission, whether that be sustainability, cultural storytelling, or community uplift. Their selection celebrates both their talent and their impact,” Magon explained.
