Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) – It has already been a full week since the Buffalo Bills kicked off training camp at St. John Fisher University in the Rochester area. Training camp will continue through this week, before wrapping in Pittsford on Thursday, Aug. 7, just ahead of Buffalo’s preseason opener on Saturday, Aug. 9 against the New York Giants.
Through the first week of camp, Bills have had a slew of injuries on both sides of the football. Most recently on Tuesday, Buffalo’s 2025 first-round pick Maxwell Hairston left practice early with a non-contact injury to his right knee.
The good news, though, is it appears Hairston has escaped a serious injury, as multiple reports indicate the 21-year-old is only expected to be out on a week-to-week basis, and could be ready for Week 1 of the season.
Other players that’ve missed significant time so far at training camp include right tackle Spencer Brown, tight end Dawson Knox, and linebacker Terrel Bernard, among others.
Tight end Dalton Kincaid and wide receiver Elijah Moore both returned to practice on Tuesday morning after missing time at practices over the weekend.
The return of Bills training camp also means the return of the tradition unlike any other on WGR… “Howard Picks the Bills!” With football back in full swing and just weeks to go until kickoff for the regular season, Howard had optimism in mind with his picks on Wednesday with Jeremy White and Joe DiBiase.
Coming right out of the gate, Howard has the Bills starting hot with a seven-game win streak, with wins in the season opener over the Baltimore Ravens, and others like at home against the Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots.
However, as Howard says, “all good things must come to an end,” as he picks the Bills to lose their first game of the year to the Kansas City Chiefs at Highmark Stadium in Week 9.
The losing doesn’t last long, though, as Howard then picks Buffalo to earn three more wins in-a-row, before a bit of a head-scratching pick to lose to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 13.
As the final season at Highmark Stadium winds down, Howard picks the Bills to win two of the final three games on home field, with wins over the Cincinnati Bengals and New York Jets in the regular season finale, while dropping a Week 17 showdown with the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles.
When all is said and done, though, Howard has the Bills finishing with a 14-3 record, and potentially in good position to end the year with the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoff picture.
#HowardPicksTheBills to go…..14-3!
