The singer faced backlash back in November 2024 after the initial single artwork was AI-generated

Kesha is finally facing the backlash surrounding the artwork for her 2024 single “Delusional,” which was made using AI. The track was shared back in November, but now, months after the single’s release and a few weeks before her upcoming album, . (Period), the singer has changed the song’s cover art.

Kesha announced the change on Instagram, revealing the new artwork where she is zip-tied in a black leather and metallic chair. “When making the single art for my song ‘Delusional,’ I wanted to make the point that it’s DELUSIONAL that the world expects artists to continue making art when we are so undervalued,” she wrote in the post’s caption. “I’ve realized that living in alignment with my integrity is more important than proving a point,” she said, adding, “I’ve decided to change the cover art for this song. She’s one of my favorites.”

Kesha also made sure to credit all of the people who worked on the new artwork, including the photographer, creative director, stylist, hair stylist, makeup artist, and videographer. “Thanks to my crew for helping me live out here in my highest and cuntiest potential,” she wrote on Instagram.

Trending Stories

The initial cover featured an array of leather handbags scattered in the middle of a street, with the word “delusional” spray-painted on them. Fans pointed out that some bags had glaring typos. Many fans online shared their disappointment that Kesha would use AI in the artwork for her music at a time when the technology is actively threatening creative careers.

At the end of her Instagram post, Kesha made a point to address the AI issue. “AI is a pandoras box that we as a society have collectively opened,” she said. “I think it’s important that we keep human ramifications in mind as we learn how to use it as a tool and not as a replacement,” she added. The singer wrapped up the post with, “Just me healing, in real time.”
