John W. Clark
OBITUARY
John W. (Jack) Clark, 82, formerly of South Chestnut Street, Nanticoke, passed away early Monday morning, Feb. 18, 2013, at the Gino Merli Veterans Center, Scranton, where he resided since December 2011.
Born in Danville on May 16, 1930, he was a son of the late Joseph and Marie Dettmore Clark. He was raised in Kingston and graduated from Kingston High School, Class of 1948, and was on the wrestling team and active in sports. In 1950 Jack enlisted in the U.S. Air Force serving during the Korean War with the 3650th USAF Hospital ATRC. He was honorably discharged in 1954 and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant.
Prior to retiring, Jack was employed by Jack Williams Tire for 44 years.
He was a member of St. Clement and St. Peter Episcopal Church, Wilkes-Barre, where he had served on the Vestry as both Junior and Senior Warden, and was the first Eucharistic Minister to serve that parish. He was a 62 year member of the American Legion Post # 395, Kingston.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Olive Ruddick Clark, on Sept. 17, 2006; a son, Dale Littleford; a brother, Joseph Clark; and sisters, Jean Myers and Ann Bradley.
Surviving are sons, Kenneth Littleford and his wife, Pam, Shippensburg, Pa.; and Barry Littleford and his wife, Marilyn, Nanticoke; brother, James Clark, Kingston; and a sister, Joan Clark Biniek, Plains; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. from Davis-Dinelli Funeral Home, 170 E. Broad St., Nanticoke, with Pastor Timothy G. Hall, of Nebo Baptist Church, Nanticoke, officiating.
Interment will follow in Hanover Green Cemetery, Hanover Township. The U.S. Air Force and members of American Legion Post # 395 will accord military honors.
Visitation will be Wednesday (today) from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
