SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY (WRGB) — A Halfmoon man faces both drug and weapons charges following a traffic stop in Saratoga Springs Friday night.
On Friday December 6th, at around 11:30pm, dispatchers received a call from a concerned citizen about a vehicle leaving the scene of a one car crash in the area of South Broadway. The caller advised that the vehicle drove over the median on South Broadway and continued driving south. Patrol Division officers began to look for the vehicle and located it on Route 9 South in the area of Crescent Ave. Officers were able to conduct a traffic stop in a parking lot on Route 9 South.

While investigating the incident, officers discovered on the back seat what appeared to be narcotics paraphernalia and other items that would indicate further criminal activity. A K9 unit was called to the traffic stop and alerted officers to the presence of narcotics. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of 6.1 grams of suspected cocaine, drug paraphernalia, $1,980.00 in US currency, and a shotgun.
The operator of the vehicle, Jeremy P. Howard, 48, of Halfmoon, was arrested and charged with: Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree – a Class B felony; Criminal Possession of a Narcotic Drug in the 4th Degree- a Class C Felony; Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor; Leaving the Scene of an Accident- a Traffic Violation; and Failure to Keep Right- a Traffic Violation.
According to Saratoga PD, Howard is not allowed to possess a firearm according the New York State Penal Law. Jeremy Howard was arraigned in City Court and released without bail to appear at a later date.
