IBM Consulting has appointed Lula Mohanty as the firm’s new Managing Partner for the Middle East and Africa.
In her new role, the 25-year-old company veteran will lead IBM Consulting’s strategic path, operations and team across the Middle East and Africa region, which spans thousands of people across offices in 13 countries. From these bases, the firm delivers projects in nearly all countries in the region.
“I am honoured to lead IBM Consulting in the Middle East and Africa at a time of remarkable transformation,” said Mohanty, who prior to her step up served as IBM Consulting’s Global Managing Partner for Strategic Sales.
“What excites me about the Middle East and Africa is the pace of ambition and the willingness to lead. There is so much opportunity in this region, and I’m looking forward to keeping IBM Consulting at the forefront of the regional consulting and technology landscape.”
Mohanty brings extensive leadership experience from her 25 years with IBM. Between 2018 and 2023, she was responsible for managing IBM Consulting’s profit & loss for all of Asia Pacific. Prior to that, Mohanty led IBM Consulting in India and South Asia. In that latter role, she led the business through a strong growth phase, and led the signing of several marquee new clients, including State Bank of India, Adani Group, Vodafone, and the Development Bank of Singapore.
She also led the global delivery centers for IBM Consulting in India and Philippines, where she was responsible for delivery of IT and process outsourced services.
Asked about her plans for the region, Mohanty said that she aims to build on the firm’s leadership position in the consulting sector, and cement its status as the go-to partner for digital reinvention and AI transformation.
“Being a consulting company inside a technology company, IBM Consulting is uniquely positioned to provide a full spectrum of services and integration capabilities to our clients. Our fundament enables us to elevate our position beyond traditional consulting firms and system integrators to unlock the full potential of digital transformation and artificial intelligence.”
Last year, IBM Consulting was named a leading consulting firm in numerous sectors and functional domains, including in AI & Gen AI and Digital Transformation. The firm works for a wide range of clients in the public and private sector.
Alongside her executive role for the Middle East & Africa, Mohanty is member of IBM’s Acceleration team (this team is responsible for IBM’s strategy, growth, and transformation in the industry) and a leader in IBM’s Industry Academy (which provides training services to clients). Meanwhile, she also is associated with the Bridge Foundation in supporting women empowerment.
