JAKARTA Google launched Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered Writing Tools for Gboards, digital keyboard applications. With this feature, users can easily create and edit text.
This new feature is designed to tidy up the text easily. Users can change the writing tone to more formal, concise, or expressive with just one tap. This AI writing tool is also able to detect spelling errors and grammar.
“New AI Writing Tool on Gboard makes it easy for you to convey messages correctly,” Google said, quoted on Thursday, September 4. “All text correction and rewriting processes are carried out on the device, which ensures that your data privacy is maintained.”
All features that operate directly on this device are supported by the Gemini Nano model. This gives privacy excellence because user text doesn’t need to get off the phone. Gemini Nano was first present on the Pixel 8 Pro and now has multimodal capabilities.
The availability of this feature relies on the phone’s ability to run the Gemini Nano multimodal model. This includes devices with high-end processors such as the Snapdragon 8 Elite from Qualcomm and Dimensity 9400 from MediaTek.
So far, the feature has reportedly appeared on several Samsung, OnePlus, and Xiaomi devices. However, Google has not released a complete list of Gemini Nano-backed devices.
Pixel 9 or later users can enjoy this feature in eight languages, including English, Mandarin, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish. Most likely, if your non-Pixel device has the appropriate specifications, you will also get this feature.
The English, Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, and French versions are automatically generated by the AI. So there may still be inaccuracies in translating, please always see Indonesian as our main language.
