Photorealism is no more a benchmark for AI tools generating visuals. Precise lettering is. Google Gemini’s Imagen4 claims to do just that. In its latest post, the company showcased the Google DeepMind developed AI tool with an alien meme, showing the following texts without a typo –
Day 239595: Their Primary Form Of Entertainment Seems To Be Watching Other People Live Less Interesting Lives.”
The AI firm showcases a range of use cases for Imagen 4 with texts on packagings, comic panels, and more. The tool can render a variety of art styles. The latest version of Imagen can let users generate images in up to 2k resolution.
Google DeepMind however also shared the limitation in the tool, remarking “Users may still see artefacts on complicated compositions — especially in images with small faces, text rendering, and thin structures.” Other drawback that the company is working on is that “Imagen sometimes struggles to create centered images — like a circle perfectly aligned in the center of the image.”
Imagen 4 is built to render crisp, legible text.
So, whether you’re designing a comic, card or custom meme, you get AI-generated text that doesn’t look…well…alien 👽

Meanwhile reactions poured in on the Google Gemini’s post with users sharing their own generated images via Imagen 4. Several shared comics in the same style as shared by the company. Posting a different prompt, one user stated that “ Gemini made a typo but that’s ok” while generating an image with the prompt, “Show Gemini’s thinking process”

One user remarked, “Please for the love of god if you genuinely want people to switch to your models remove that VERY unnecessary “AI” label on the bottom right and make image editing and other features universal not region dependent.” Another user drooled, “Google’s Most Artistic AI Upgrade Yet.”
