Consilio Launches Aurora eDiscovery System In UK + EU – Artificial Lawyer

After its recent purchase of AI research lab TrueLaw and partnership with litigation response pioneer LegalMation, Consilio is launching its Aurora platform in the UK and Europe.

The ‘Digital Enterprise Platform’ helps to manage ‘escalating legal data and technology costs’ in eDiscovery / eDisclosure and has already launched in the US.

‘Sitting upstream and integrating with multiple eDiscovery review platforms, Aurora frees organisations from single-vendor lock-ins and has features designed specifically for the region. Hosted within Consilio’s UK data centre, Aurora also complies with GDPR and UK data protection requirements, removing the risks associated with public cloud deployments,’ they explained.

It consists of several features, which include:

‘Data & Budget Control: New project-level data insights and alerts provide real-time visibility into matter costs while early case intelligence controls data volumes – all enabling proactive management of technology expenditure, thus eliminating unexpected cost overruns.

Data Sovereignty: Complete data and processing residency within the UK with controls to ensure compliance with GDPR and UK data protection requirements, removing the risks associated with public cloud deployments.

Platform Independence: Aurora’s platform-agnostic architecture integrates with multiple review platforms, including Sightline and Relativity Server, freeing organisations from single-vendor lock-ins.

Workflow Optimisation: Enhanced auto-loaders and data mapping capabilities reduce processing volumes and streamline workflows, eliminating inefficiencies across the eDiscovery lifecycle.

Controlled AI Implementation: New Aurora AI Investigate for Relativity Server delivers AI capabilities within a secure, private infrastructure, providing innovation without the premium pricing of public cloud AI services.’

For AL, the number one feature here is better tracking of matter costs – as that then leads right back to key issues related to genAI efficiency gains and change management.

Is this a big deal? Well, it depends if legal teams really use it with serious intent to make fundamental changes to how they work. I.e. you can deploy this type of product, but if you don’t respond to the data it surfaces, it can’t deliver all that’s possible.

That is to say, if you can get better visibility on costs and your own workflows, that’s just step one in a long process of change management. Collecting the data is just the start of the journey – but if Consilio can help you to do that then this is a positive step forward. No doubt lawyers will find the other features handy as well….but for AL, it’s the business of law aspect that really matters.
