Cleveland Clinic is opening applications for the second round of its Quantum Innovation Catalyzer Program, an initiative designed to help startups test how quantum computing could be used in healthcare and life sciences.
Here are five things to know about the program:
Launched in 2023, the program offers selected early- and venture-stage companies a yearlong residency at Cleveland Clinic’s main campus in Cleveland.
Participants receive access to IBM’s Quantum System One — the world’s first quantum computer dedicated to biomedical research — as well as workspace, mentoring and educational opportunities, according to a Sept. 2 news release.
Up to four companies will be selected through a competitive process. Each could qualify for an investment of up to $250,000 from the K5 Tokyo Black Fund, with Cleveland Clinic providing a matching in-kind contribution.
The initiative is part of a 10-year collaboration between Cleveland Clinic and IBM aimed at accelerating biomedical discoveries through the use of quantum computing and other advanced technologies.
Applications are open until Oct. 31, with finalists to be announced in December. The next program cycle is scheduled to begin in March 2026, according to the release.
