Early reviews of GPT 4.5 have been absolutely brutal. Here’s a sample:The comments from Howard, a pioneer in large language models, and general a fan of Generative AI, are especially damning. And the thing is, this is not just some random release. This was OpenAI’s best shot, post DeepSeek, to show that they are still the king.Instead, they swung and missed.GPT 4.5 appears to be the system that was supposed to be GPT-5, relabeled in order to manage expectations downwards. And even so, with the less ambitious label, people were still disappointed. And of course, there is still no GPT-5, even after…
In today’s fiercely competitive talent market, companies need more than traditional job postings to secure top-tier candidates—they need a transformative strategy. Michael Kim, Head of HR JAPAC & SAMEA, recently shared how the global streaming giant has reimagined its approach to talent acquisition using innovative tactics. Speaking at the National HR Summit 2025, Kim underscored the urgency of addressing high global attrition rates. “Global statistics in 2024 showed an average attrition rate of 20%, which is staggering. At Spotify, we’re between four and six percent—and we’re pleased with that,” he said. “But too low a rate isn’t ideal either. If…
As artificial intelligence (AI) continues to transform industries across the globe, the EU has taken significant strides to regulate its deployment, use and implementation and to mitigate associated risks. The 2024 AI Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/1689), presented by the European Commission (EC) as “the first-ever comprehensive legal framework on AI worldwide,” creates a set of risk-based rules regarding specific uses of AI. It came into effect on August 1, 2024, and will be fully enforceable in August 2026. Certain provisions (mostly prohibition on use) took effect in advance, on February 2, 2025. On February 4 and 6, 2025, the European…

The combination of SimScale’s cloud simulation architecture, AI surrogate models, NVIDIA Warp and NVIDIA Omniverse for interactive visualization, and cutting edge NVIDIA Blackwell hardware allows engineers to discover optimal pump…
A new paper co-authored by the former CEO of Google has outlined a future where AI training data centers could be blown up by foreign nations.Eric Schmidt, along with Scale AI CEO Alexandr Wang and the Center for AI Safety’s Dan Hendrycks, warned that “destabilizing AI developments could rupture the balance of power and raise the odds of great-power conflict.”The paper lays out the concept of Mutual Assured AI Malfunction (MAIM), modeled on nuclear mutual assured destruction (MAD), where any “aggressive bid for unilateral AI dominance is met with preventive sabotage by rivals.”This could involve espionage, cyberattacks, or kinetic strikes…

Chinese tech giants like Alibaba (BABA), Tencent (TCEHY), and ByteDance have placed over $16 billion in orders for Nvidia’s (NVDA) H20 AI chips during the first quarter of 2025, according to The Information. The rush in demand comes amid concerns that the U.S. may soon ban the sale of these chips to China. While Nvidia has not commented, these orders could significantly boost revenue if the company manages to deliver the chips before any restrictions take effect.Don’t Miss Our End of Quarter Offers: The H20 is currently allowed in China, but it’s less powerful than Nvidia’s Blackwell chips, which are…
Unsupervised panoptic segmentation aims to partition an image into semantically meaningful regions and distinct object instances without training on manually annotated data. In contrast to prior work on unsupervised panoptic scene understanding, we eliminate the need for object-centric training data, enabling the unsupervised understanding of complex scenes. To that end, we present the first unsupervised panoptic method that directly trains on scene-centric imagery. In particular, we propose an approach to obtain high-resolution panoptic pseudo labels on complex scene-centric data, combining visual representations, depth, and motion cues. Utilizing both pseudo-label training and a panoptic self-training strategy yields a novel approach that…
Large language models (LLMs) can be used to perform natural language processing (NLP) tasks ranging from simple dialogues and information retrieval tasks, to more complex reasoning tasks such as summarization and decision-making. Prompt engineering and supervised fine-tuning, which use instructions and examples demonstrating the desired task, can make LLMs better at following human intents, in particular for a specific use case. However, these methods often result in LLMs expressing unintended behaviors such as making up facts (hallucinations), generating biased or toxic text, or simply not following user instructions. This leads to responses that are untruthful, toxic, or simply not helpful…
Stability AI speaks of a “multi-view video generation with 3D camera control”. This refers to an AI model that can convert photos into 3D models. These in turn can be viewed from all sides, enabling an immersive view. Stable Virtual Camera is still a research preview. Stability AI uses a diffusion model to create the 3D videos. These are AI models in which images are generated point by point using noise. A single photo or up to 32 images can be used as input. The generated videos are available with different camera paths, such as “dynamic”, “spiral”, “dolly zoom”, “pan”…
