Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff said in a recent interview that AI now does up to 50% of all work at the company, in key functions like engineering, coding, and customer support. In May, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said 20% to 30% of the tech giant’s code is now written by AI coding assistants. And in April, Google CEO Sundar Pichai said over 30% of code at Google is now generated by AI. It’s the latest CEO flex: Citing numbers showing that AI is doing heavy lifting internally. The move presents the company as being ahead of the AI curve—–and invariably…
BBVA is expanding its AI offerings to its employees after the bank determined employees who used artificial intelligence saved hours of time on their work. The Spanish bank announced a partnership with Google Cloud to offer Google’s AI assistant Gemini to all employees on Wednesday. The partnership grants BBVA employees access to the standalone gen-AI powered Gemini app, Google Workspace with Gemini and Google’s AI-powered research assistant NotebookLM. This partnership is the second time BBVA has introduced generative AI tools to its workforce. A year ago, BBVA signed up for 3,300 ChatGPT Enterprise licenses through a partnership with OpenAI. As…
In an ever-changing geo-political and economic climate, the key to business success appears to be the ability to adapt. Add into that the fast-paced world of tech and AI, and if you’re not ready for change, you’ll get left behind. “AI is [such] an evolving ecosystem that companies are thinking through introducing a level of agility in their decision-making to give them the capacity to take on what AI is going to bring our way over the next while, without really, completely knowing what the answer is,” Jad Shimaly, global managing partner of client service at EY, told Euronews. But…
(Bloomberg) — President Donald Trump’s administration plans to restrict shipments of AI chips from the likes of Nvidia Corp. to Malaysia and Thailand, part of an effort to crack down on suspected semiconductor smuggling into China. Nearly every day, another business luminary makes a gloomy prediction about job security in the AI era. Well-known venture capitalist Vinod Khosla recently said artificial intelligence could wipe out 80% of all jobs by 2030 while Amazon CEO Andy Jassy warned about likely job cuts at the retail giant due to automation. And yet, amid all the pessimism, one tiny group of humans has become extraordinarily valuable: Those creating AI. Many tech companies are scrambling to hire top-notch AI leaders and researchers, using multi-million dollar paychecks to entice them. The latest example of how essential some humans are in the…
OpenAI is betting millions on building AI talent from the ground up amid rival Meta’s poaching pitch
In Silicon Valley’s white-hot race for artificial intelligence supremacy, mind-boggling pay packages are part of the industry’s recruitment push. At OpenAI, however, the company’s residency program is tackling attracting and keeping top talent by looking outside of the industry altogether. The six-month, full-time paid program offers aspiring AI researchers from adjacent fields like physics or neuroscience a pathway into the AI industry, rather than recruiting individuals already deeply invested in AI research and work. According to Jackie Hehir, OpenAI’s research residency program manager, residents aren’t those seeking Ph.Ds in machine learning or AI, nor are they employees of other AI…
A stock trader at work at the New York Stock Exchange on February 24, 2020.Johannes Eiselle/Getty Images AI stocks resemble the dot-com stocks in the 1990s, warns investor Richard Bernstein. Since ChatGPT’s launch, the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 have soared. Bernstein suggests dividend stocks, like utilities, for stable, compounding returns. The intoxicating buzz around artificial intelligence stocks over the last few years looks concerningly like the dot-com bubble, top investor Richard Bernstein warns. The CIO at $15 billion Richard Bernstein Advisors wrote in a June 30 post that the AI trade is starting to look rich, and that it…
Hundreds of former staff at a collapsed AI company once worth £1bn have been left unable to access redundancy payments amid talks over a fire sale of its assets. Workers claim to have been left in limbo after being let go from the failed British AI champion in May. While Builder AI has filed for bankruptcy in the US, it has yet to appoint administrators in Britain where its main operations were based. This has meant around 200 UK-based staff cannot claim redundancy pay from the Insolvency Service, which requires a case number normally supplied by restructuring advisers in the…

Corporate credit card company Brex is no different. The startup found itself facing the same issue as its enterprise counterparts. The upshot: Brex completely changed its approach to software procurement to ensure they wouldn’t get left behind. Brex CTO James Reggio told…
(Bloomberg) — Huawei Technologies Co.’s secretive AI research lab has pushed back against accusations it relied on rivals’ models to develop its own Pangu platform, taking the unusual step of rebutting claims about its artificial intelligence efforts. Most Read from Bloomberg The Pangu Pro MoE is the world’s first model of its kind to be trained on Ascend chips — Huawei’s answer to Nvidia Corp.’s AI accelerators — the lab said in a WeChat post over the weekend. While the company employed open-source code — as is “common practice” — Huawei said it respected intellectual property and stuck closely to…
