By Greg Bensinger SUNNYVALE, Calif. (Reuters) -Amazon wants customers to know that artificial intelligence is not just for writing college essays. In a series of announcements Wednesday, Amazon demonstrated how stockroom robots, delivery people and its sprawling warehouses will all benefit from a hefty dose of artificial intelligence, speeding packages to customer doorsteps. The company said it is forming a new group at its Lab126 device unit focused on creating warehouse robots that will perform multiple tasks when prompted, a significant advance over today’s robots that typically are designed for a singular job. Using so-called agentic AI, these robots will…
By Jaspreet Singh (Reuters) -Spending on AI-powered search advertising is poised to surge to nearly $26 billion by 2029 from just over $1 billion this year in the U.S., driven by rapid adoption of the technology and more sophisticated user targeting, data from Emarketer showed on Wednesday. Companies that rely on traditional keyword-based search ads could experience revenue declines due to the growing popularity of AI search ads, which offer greater convenience and engagement for users, according to the research firm. Search giants such as Alphabet-owned Google (GOOG) and Microsoft’s (MSFT) Bing have added AI capabilities to better compete with…
By Supantha Mukherjee STOCKHOLM (Reuters) -Brookfield Asset Management plans to invest up to 95 billion Swedish crowns ($9.9 billion) to build a data centre for artificial intelligence in Sweden, the Canadian company said in a statement on Wednesday. Increased use of AI and requirements to host data within Europe have led to a boom in data centres on the continent, with companies such as Microsoft, Meta and Alphabet choosing Sweden for their sites due to its reliable electricity supplies, connectivity and infrastructure. BAM has been investing heavily in Europe and earlier this year laid out plans to invest 20 billion…

Shares of the server-maker, which also recorded an impairment charge of $1.36 billion in the reported quarter, rose 3.2% in extended trading. The company has benefited from a surge in spending on advanced data center architecture, designed to support the complex processing needs of generative AI. The GenAI boom has bumped up demand for Hewlett Packard’s AI-optimized servers, which are powered by Nvidia processors and can run complex applications. For the quarter ended April 30,…
By Wen-Yee Lee HSINCHU, Taiwan (Reuters) -Taiwan’s TSMC said on Tuesday that U.S. tariffs were having some impact on the company and had been discussed with Washington, but demand for artificial intelligence (AI) remains strong and continues to outpace supply. U.S. President Donald Trump’s trade policies have created much uncertainty for the global chip industry and TSMC, the top producer of the world’s most advanced semiconductors whose customers include Apple and Nvidia. Chief Executive C.C. Wei, speaking at TSMC’s annual shareholders meeting in the northern Taiwanese city of Hsinchu, said the company had not seen any changes in customer behaviour…
By Anna Tong, Krystal Hu NEW YORK, NY (Reuters) -Two years after the launch of ChatGPT, return on investment in generative AI has been elusive, but one area stands out: software development. By Anna Tong, Jeffrey Dastin SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) -Artificial intelligence developer Anthropic is making about $3 billion in annualized revenue, according to two sources familiar with the matter, in an early validation of generative AI use in the business world. The milestone, which projects the company’s current sales over the course of a year, is a significant jump from December 2024 when the metric was nearly $1 billion, the sources said. The figure crossed $2 billion around the end of March, and at May’s end it hit $3 billion, one of the sources said. While consumers have embraced rival OpenAI’s…
By Jaspreet Singh (Reuters) -Dell raised its annual profit forecast on Thursday, signaling growing demand for its AI-powered servers that are equipped with Nvidia’s powerful chips. Shares of the company, whose servers are used by customers such as Elon Musk’s AI startup xAI and CoreWeave, rose 2% in extended trading. Dell and Super Micro Computer have benefited from growing demand for such servers, but the high cost of producing them and tough competition have pressured margins. “We generated $12.1 billion in AI orders this quarter alone, surpassing the entirety of shipments in all of fiscal 2025 and leaving us with…
