After doing multiple contract AI deals with vendors such as Evisort, Harvey, Dioptra, and most recently Thomson Reuters, CLM company Icertis has now launched its own contract AI tool – Vera. But not just that, it comes with a host of related tools, including a bunch of agents as well. So, what is Vera? They explain that it is a ‘smarter AI for contracts…powered by one of the largest repositories of contract data in the world, Icertis Vera reflects the true intent of agreements with unmatched accuracy through deep contextual understanding of the business relationships captured in contracts’. I.e. it…
Unified multimodal models (UMMs) unify visual understanding and generation within a single architecture. However, conventional training relies on image-text pairs (or sequences) whose captions are typically sparse and miss fine-grained visual details–even when they use hundreds of words to describe a simple image. We introduce Reconstruction Alignment (RecA), a resource-efficient post-training method that leverages visual understanding encoder embeddings as dense “text prompts,” providing rich supervision without captions. Concretely, RecA conditions a UMM on its own visual understanding embeddings and optimizes it to reconstruct the input image with a self-supervised reconstruction loss, thereby realigning understanding and generation. Despite its simplicity, RecA…
London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) is a global provider of financial markets data and infrastructure. It operates the London Stock Exchange and manages international equity, fixed income, and derivative markets. The group also develops capital markets software, offers real-time and reference data products, and provides extensive post-trade services. This post was co-authored with Charles Kellaway and Rasika Withanawasam of LSEG. Financial markets are remarkably complex, hosting increasingly dynamic investment strategies across new asset classes and interconnected venues. Accordingly, regulators place great emphasis on the ability of market surveillance teams to keep pace with evolving risk profiles. However, the landscape is…
Two new Chinese artificial intelligence models have broken into a top 10 leaderboard for both open- and closed-source models, highlighting China’s progress in closing the gap with leading US developers.Alibaba Group Holding’s 1 trillion-parameter Qwen3-max-preview model debuted in sixth place in the latest “text arena” ranking by LMArena – an AI model evaluation platform started by University of California, Berkeley researchers – making it the top Chinese model.Meanwhile, Alibaba-backed start-up Moonshot AI’s updated Kimi-K2 model tied for eighth place with seven other models, including DeepSeek R1 and xAI’s Grok 4, reinforcing its status as one of the premier open-source models…

Ralph Rugoff, the curator of the 2019 Venice Biennale, is set to leave his post as director of the Hayward Gallery after 20 years leading the London institution. The Southbank Centre, the organization that runs the Hayward Gallery, said that Rugoff would depart the museum in the spring of next year. Its announcement of his departure said he would continue to work as an independent curator and writer. Rugoff is most famous internationally for his 2019 Biennale, which saw the 79 artists included—a relatively low number for the world’s biggest art festival—each show at least two works in two different…
You know how 3D artists usually have to build placeholder assets just to block out a scene before they can start adding details? That step is notoriously time-consuming, and most of the work ends up getting tossed once the real modeling begins. It’s a grind that keeps creators stuck in repetitive tasks instead of exploring ideas.NVIDIA wants to change that with its new AI Blueprint for 3D object generation, a workflow that can spin up to 20 objects from a simple text prompt. Instead of juggling multiple AI models and technical setups, artists get a ready-made pipeline that streamlines prototyping…

Microsoft’s Office 365 suite will soon incorporate AI models from Anthropic alongside existing OpenAI technology, The Information reported, ending years of exclusive reliance on OpenAI for generative AI features across Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. The shift reportedly follows internal testing that revealed Anthropic’s Claude Sonnet 4 model excels at specific Office tasks where OpenAI’s models fall short, particularly in visual design and spreadsheet automation, according to sources familiar with the project cited by The Information, who stressed the move is not a negotiating tactic. Anthropic did not immediately respond to Ars Technica’s request for comment. In an unusual arrangement…
