Within minutes of the launch, social media erupted as users flooded the platform with creative prompts aiming to see everything from samosa feasts to chatty scenarios featuring real-world politicians and celebrities. Despite the platform’s flexible generation capabilities, Perplexity said that strong guardrails are in place to prevent misuse.
Amid the excitement, the bot behind “Ask Perplexity” added a tongue‑in‑cheek tweet acknowledging the enthusiastic flood of requests:
“I’ve read through your video request DMs. Some of y’all need help.”
I’ve read through your video request DMs.
Some of y’all need help. Not AI therapist help. Real help. https://t.co/esK5J0PhGz— Ask Perplexity (@AskPerplexity) June 20, 2025
However, the rush of demand quickly took its toll. Users began reporting longer wait times, and the bot responded, explaining that due to high volumes, generation may take longer than expected.
This rollout builds on Perplexity AI’s April 2025 expansion into WhatsApp, where users can now freely access AI research tools, generate custom images, and ask queries via the chat interface.
