Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu announced that a Quantum Computing Centre will be operational in Amaravati by 1 January 2026, the Hindu reported.
The initiative marks a significant step toward transforming the city into a “Quantum Valley” modelled after Silicon Valley.
The project is being developed in collaboration with IBM, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), and Larsen & Toubro (L&T).
Speaking at the Amaravati Quantum Valley Workshop, jointly organised by the Andhra Pradesh government and the three corporate partners, Naidu emphasised that the state aims to generate 100 quantum use-cases by 15 August 2026, showcasing its ambition to be a global leader in the Quantum-AI space.
Stressing India’s young workforce and strong mathematical talent, Naidu urged stakeholders to seize opportunities in this International Year of Quantum Science and Technology.
He said Andhra Pradesh’s upcoming data lake infrastructure would enable advanced governance and improved citizen services, warning, “We cannot afford to miss the bus.”
IT Minister Nara Lokesh announced that Amaravati will soon host a 156-qubit IBM-2 Quantum Computer, the first of its kind in South Asia. He urged top institutes like IITs to build a quantum-ready workforce through future-focused curricula.
Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, Ajay Kumar Sood and Abhay Karandikar, Department of Science and Technology Secretary, praised AP’s alignment with the National Quantum Mission (NQM).
Sood also noted that ISRO’s upcoming Quantum Satellite would boost India’s secure communication capabilities.
