Hailuo AI is an AI video generator that creates professional-looking videos easily. It lets you type a prompt or upload an image and then uses AI to produce a short movie. It also has a “MiniMax” feature that can take a still photo and transform it into a moving scene with smooth transitions.

In simple terms, you give it words or pictures, and Hailuo AI “automates the video production process” so you can get a high-quality clip in minutes.

The site promises “effortlessly created stunning AI videos”, and this Hailuo AI review examines that claim. In this blog, we will look at Hailuo AI’s features, pricing, and uses.

(Hailuo AI Review) TL;DR:

Hailuo AI is an AI video generator that turns text and images into short videos.

It offers a free plan (with basic features and watermarks) and paid plans (standard- $15/month and unlimited- $95/month) for higher quality.

Hailuo AI provides text-to-video, image-to-video, custom templates, and automated lip-sync features.

Hailuo AI doesn’t require technical expertise (video editing or coding skills). Using the tool requires a simple text or image prompt.

It’s a great choice for marketers, content creators, teachers, and businesses who want to create videos fast.

Hailuo AI review

Best For

Hailuo AI best suits people who need quick videos:

Content and Digital Marketers: They can make budget-friendly product ads or social media promos by prompting Hailuo AI correctly, in text and images.

Educators and Coaches: Teachers can turn lesson plans into short videos to promote engagement. This is because Hailuo AI can be used to animate text and diagrams.

Content Creators: Influencers and YouTubers who post on TikTok, Instagram, or YouTube can cut down significant video editing time by using Hailuo.

Alternatives to Hailuo AI

Runway Gen-3 Alpha: This tool provides text-to-video and image-to-video abilities. It also lets the user control camera angles and motion areas.

Runway has a free tier (with watermarks) and paid plans starting around $12/month. A subscription will unlock access to Runway’s high-quality, cinematic output.

Kaiber AI: Kaiber AI focuses on creative animations by turning images or music into motion videos. As you might have guessed, it’s popular with artists. It offers both free and paid plans (about $10/month for Pro).

Pika Labs: Pika Labs creates high-quality, realistic videos using text prompts. The videos are typically short, however, a subscription enables longer videos.

Synthesia: This is a limited tool that specializes in AI avatars and talking-head videos. It works by inputting a script that the avatar reads out. It’s different from Hailuo AI because it’s about virtual presenters, not scene animations.

Synthesia is a paid tool that starts around $18/month.

InVideo / VEED: These are more like AI video editors. They have AI features (like text-to-speech, templates) that start from your own footage. Therefore, they don’t generate new video from scratch as Hailuo does.

Note: Stated prices are subject to change.

Hailuo AI Pricing

Hailuo AI has both free and paid plans.

Free Plan: This allows basic video creation, but with watermarks, shorter videos, and limited resolution. This is a good way of exploring the tool before making a financial commitment. This plan also has usage caps.

Standard Plan: This is pegged at $14.90/ month. It gives you full HD video, watermark removal, more templates, and faster processing time. If you are unsatisfied with the basic features, this plan is a financial starting point.

Unlimited Plan: This plan costs $94.90/month, and it removes nearly all caps, creates longer clips, has higher video resolution, and provides unlimited credits. It also provides priority speed. Intended for heavy or professional users.

Note: For pricing updates, check the Hailuo AI website.

Hailuo AI Review: Overview and Main Features

1. Image-to-Video Generation

Upload a photo (up to 20MB) and Hailuo AI will animate it into a video clip. For instance, a still image of “a samurai in a field” can turn into a short scene with camera movement. It will take an existing image and transform it into a video complete with motion, camera angles, and transitions.

Here I uploaded an original image of a samurai in a field that had been generated with MidJourney.

Hailuo AI prompted with an image

In addition to the image prompting feature, Hailuo AI gives more control with text prompting. Although you can use the image prompting feature as it is, Hailuo AI allows more control with a text prompt.

Here were the results after adding a text prompt:

2. Text-to-Video Generation

You can type a prompt, and Hailuo will build a video around it. The AI adds scenes, animations, and even background music to match your text. For example, if you write about a “CEO givinga  presentation to the board using data and visuals,”

Hailuo AI text prompting

Hailuo can do that:

A video of a CEO giving a presentation at a board meeting generated by Hailuo AI through textual prompting

This is useful for explainer videos or quick stories. Do note that there are tell-tale signs of AI generation. The humans move in an atypical manner and have an air-brushed skin quality.

3. Image Generation

Apart from being an AI video generator, Hailuo AI now has an image generator. I prompted it with “an image of a dog playing in the park” and I got this:

Image generation using Hailuo AI

The image adhered to the prompt and had a high dose of realism. This is seen in the bright and rich background vegetation, complete with a beautiful, sunny sky.

4. Lip-Sync and Voiceovers

Hailuo AI matches spoken words to your character’s mouth movements. Just add a voice track or write a script, and the AI will animate the lips to match the audio. It will feel like the character is talking.

This works great for avatar videos or cartoon narrators. The speech looks natural and smooth. For example, when you upload a voiceover, the AI syncs it to the character so it looks like they’re speaking your lines.

5. Auto-Editing Tools

You don’t need to edit videos by hand. Hailuo AI comes with built-in editing tools: it trims clips, adds transitions, and sets the pacing automatically.

6. High-Quality Output

Hailuo can create videos that look cinematic, however, you need to write clear prompts. If you do, the results can be stunning. The scenes will have smooth motions and clean transitions..

In spite of these abilities, complex scenes may still need tweaks. But overall, the tool delivers high-quality motion and flow.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

Hailuo AI is very easy to use, even for beginners. It has an intuitive interface that ensure this. There are also templates to guide you.

It has a free plan for mild use and exploration.

The image-to-video is a standout feature because it excels at turning stills into moving clips.

Hailuo has a built-in lip-sync and voice integration that makes talking avatars or narrated videos look real.

It’s good for a variety of uses: ads, social posts, training, etc.

Cons:

The free version is quite limited. It has watermarks and generates very short clips.

Hailuo AI provides limited fine control in templates. You can’t always tweak the pacing or camera just how you want.

The video quality can vary. Although simpler scenes come out fine, complex action (like many moving characters) can produce glitches or odd motion.

Being a new platform, it sometimes has occasional bugs or odd outputs.

The Bottom Line

Hailuo AI is an easy to use tool that generates videos with both image and text prompts. It also has an AI image generation feature that works the same way as the video generation.

It has reasonable pricing: it provides a free plan and advanced features through a subscription. If you need fast video content and don’t want to learn complex editing software, Hailuo AI is worth considering.
