How to Use Search Live Feature, Real-Time Camera Search, and Support for 7 Indian Languages

Earlier this year, in June, Google introduced a new feature called AI Mode, which enables users to dive deeper into complex topics and ask questions that are three times longer than traditional queries. Powered by a custom version of Gemini 2.5 Pro, AI Mode works by breaking down queries into subtopics and performing multiple searches on your behalf.

In a blog post, Google said that following positive feedback, it is now introducing a new featrue called Search Live, which lets users talk to Search and use their camera to get help about what’s in front of them in real-time. For example, when making an iced matcha, you can show Google the ingredients and ask questions like “What is a good order to combine these to make an iced matcha?”

Like Gemini Live, this is really helpful for making quick searches and instantly getting helpful advice. To use Search Live in AI mode, open the Google app on your device and tap on the new ‘Live’ icon that resides under the search bar. Alternatively, you can launch Google Lens and click on the ‘Live’ option that appears at the bottom of the screen.

Apart from Search Live, Google said it is also expanding AI Mode to seven more Indian languages – Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. However, support for these languagess will start rolling out next week and may take some time before they make it to your account.

Last week, Google Search’s AI Mode got a visual upgrade, allowing users to “ask a question conversationally and get a range of visual results in AI Mode.” The tech giant also said that users in the United States can now upload an image or take a photo, feed it to AI Mode and ask questions about it.
