On September 12, IT Home reported that ByteDance’s Volcano Engine announced the launch of the command line AI Agent: veCLI, which seamlessly integrates the Doubao Large Model 1.6. Developers can directly access the Volcano Ark large model and Volcano Cloud products from the terminal.
In terms of technical architecture, veCLI adopts a ‘Think-Act’ loop mechanism (ReAct), enabling the AI assistant to perform multi-step reasoning and problem-solving like a developer.
veCLI not only calls the Doubao Large Model seamlessly, but also integrates third-party models such as Kimi-K2 and DeepSeek v3.1 for user selection. Additionally, veCLI integrates Volcano Engine MCP Server, helping users conveniently access Volcano Engine cloud services from building to deployment, thereby enhancing the efficiency of cloud-based AI application development.
By completing the veCLI login using Volcano Engine AK/SK, key authentication can be achieved, ensuring enterprise identity authentication and authorization, and ensuring that access and operations on resources comply with security standards. Through natural language interaction, users can quickly generate blog system code and complete local deployment in the terminal. The entire process does not require memorizing complex commands, achieving automated construction and operation from instructions to code. Commands can flexibly switch and select the most suitable model for task requirements. Currently, support is available for Doubao Seed 1.6, DeepSeek V3.1, and Kimi-K2, with more models continuously being expanded. By configuring the MCP for Feishu in the settings.json file, the free expansion capability of veCLI can be realized, enhancing programming efficiency.
ByteDance stated that in the future, Volcano Engine veCLI will continue to strengthen existing features, further enhance multimodal understanding capabilities, improve team collaboration functions, and expand integration with more development tools.
