Addleshaw Goddard (AG) has hired Chris Tart-Roberts – previously the top legal tech exec with Macfarlanes – as a partner. He will ‘expand the firm’s offering to financial services clients’, the firm said, as well as continue working in the tech and innovation fields.
As you’d expect, he’ll be working closely with Kerry Westland, AG’s Head of Innovation Group.
Previously he was head of Legal Tech and Chief KM + Innovation Officer at Macfarlanes – where he stayed for 12 years. Prior to that he was a partner at Pinsent Masons and before that was a junior lawyer at Linklaters.
I.e. although heavily into tech, he’s also got plenty of legal skills as well. The move to focus on tech and financial services is an interesting one, and it is not a ‘pure play’ legal tech role.
Commenting on the appointment, Steve Mackie, Group Head of Finance and Projects at Addleshaw Goddard, commented: ‘We are combining our advanced legal technology capabilities, deep Financial Services sector understanding and Chris’s tech expertise, to help clients solve their most pressing challenges.
‘We will further integrate cutting-edge technologies such as AI, automation and expert systems into our service delivery to address the evolving needs of our Financial Services clients, reinforcing our reputation for navigating complexity and unlocking value in a demanding environment.’
And Tart-Roberts added: ‘I’m excited to join the Addleshaw Goddard team and look forward to combining top-tier legal expertise with transformative technology to help financial institutions and private capital clients stay ahead of the curve. With the firm’s global platform, deep sector expertise, and standout innovation track record, we have all the ingredients to build something truly game-changing for clients.’
‘Using transformative technology to reshape legal services can deliver smarter, faster and more impactful solutions to help clients stay ahead of complexity, manage risks smarter, and unlock value.’
Congrats on the move.
