Eudia Opens ‘AI-Augmented Law Firm’ For M&A – Artificial Lawyer

Eudia, the inhouse-focused AI startup with tons of VC cash, and which bought ALSP Johnson Hana this summer, has rolled out ‘Eudia Counsel’, an AI-Augmented law firm operating under Arizona’s Alternative Business Structure (ABS) program. It will provide M&A Due Diligence and also handle contract needs that require a regulated lawyer.

The firm launches with two foundational offerings, they explained:

‘AI-Augmented M&A  – Eudia accelerates M&A diligence by instantly analyzing thousands of documents, identifying key risks, and generating dynamic issues lists tailored to your transaction. Trusted by Fortune 500 companies like DHL, Coherent, and Graybar, Eudia’s Augmented Intelligence platform – paired with seasoned M&A counsel – delivers faster, more informed decisions with confidence.

And,

AI-Augmented Contracting  – Eudia transforms contracting into a scalable, strategic advantage. Eudia’s Augmented Intelligence platform leverages each customer’s deal history and playbooks to instantly assess risk and apply redlines – speeding up contract review, boosting consistency, and reducing legal overhead. Trusted by Stripe, Duracell, and Airbnb – with experienced counsel reviewing every output to ensure quality and compliance.’

All well and good, and makes sense. The unusual bit is here….

‘At the core [of the offering] is each customer’s unique customer Brain – a proprietary intelligence system that captures strategic context, legal preferences, and institutional knowledge. With every engagement, the Brain grows smarter, compounding in value to drive deeper insight, greater consistency, and increased efficiency over time.’

But, perhaps a simpler way of putting it, is that Eudia will remember the work that was done and retain it to help with future matters.

Omar Haroun, CEO of Eudia, said: ‘Most legal departments have lost control of their budgets and their knowledge. Eudia Counsel is the first AI-native law firm built to help companies regain control of their knowledge. Every legal task completed through the platform doesn’t just deliver an outcome—it makes the team smarter.’

The firm operates fully under Arizona’s progressive ABS framework, allowing tight integration between legal workflow execution and Eudia’s AI infrastructure, they underlined.

Is this a big deal?

Well, it makes sense. They provided AI services to inhouse teams, then bagged an ALSP, now they can offer regulated legal input as well. Is it the first ‘AI-augmented law firm’….? Well, no. And there are several AI-first law firms, or AI-hybrid firms out there too. But, it’s a welcome move and if it leads to greater efficiency and moving away from time-based billing for more process level work then who cares about the hubris of claiming in their announcement that this was the ‘first AI-Augmented Law Firm’.

Great work Omar…!

P.S. It will be interesting to see what rival ALSPs do, which in many cases have also embraced AI skills to improve contracting and also in some instances for M&A DD too. It will also be a moment for law firms with their own ALSP groups to think again about what strategy they want to follow, given that the idea of just running such process arms as a ‘cheaper version of Big Law, but operating in the same way’, likely will steadily stop being viable as a business approach.
