Meta Releases AI Voice Translations To Creators Worldwide

Meta has introduced a new AI-powered voice translation feature to creators on Facebook and Instagram worldwide. The company confirmed the global rollout on Tuesday.

The tool allows creators to translate their content into other languages. Importantly, it keeps the creator’s own voice and tone, making the translation sound authentic.

This is different from traditional dubbing, which often feels detached. Meta has also added an optional lip-sync feature.

This aligns the translated speech with lip movements. As a result, videos appear more natural and engaging.

Languages

At launch, the feature only supports translations between English and Spanish, with plans for additional languages in the future.

However, the company did not specify which ones or when they will arrive. This new feature is available to Facebook creators with at least 1,000 followers and all public Instagram accounts.

Easy Access

Creators can access the feature before publishing their reels. A new option, “Translate your voice with Meta AI,” appears in the editor.

Once selected, they can turn on translations and decide whether to include lip-syncing. They can also preview the reel before publishing.

And if the translation is not suitable, they can turn it off. The original video remains unchanged.

Viewers also have control and can choose to disable translations in their settings.

When translations are active, a small notice at the bottom of the reel informs viewers that Meta AI generated the dubbed audio.

New Metrics

Meta has added a new metric to the Insights panel. Creators can now view audience engagement by language.

This shows how far translated content reaches outside the creator’s main community.

For example, an English-speaking creator may discover that many of their views come from Spanish-speaking audiences.

With this knowledge, they can adjust their strategy to reach more people globally.

Best Practices

Meta recommends that creators follow certain guidelines for accurate translations:

Face the camera directly.

Speak clearly and avoid covering the mouth.

Keep background noise and music minimal.

Limit reels to two speakers, without overlapping dialogue.

Extra Options

Facebook creators have a separate feature that allows uploads of up to 20 of their own dubbed audio tracks.

This option appears in the Meta Business Suite under “Closed captions and translations.”

Unlike the AI tool, this feature allows creators to add translations manually, before or after publishing.

This offers more control for creators who want to use their own recorded translations.

Global Reach

Meta says the feature will help creators connect with audiences across cultures and languages. Instagram head Adam Mosseri emphasized this point in a statement.

He said, “We believe there are lots of amazing creators out there who have potential audiences who don’t necessarily speak the same language.

And if we can help you reach those audiences who speak other languages, reach across cultural and linguistic barriers, we can help you grow your following and get more value out of Instagram and the platform.”
