India-based Vodafone Idea (Vi) forged a partnership with IBM to streamline and modernise the operator’s IT and business processes, with plans to set up an AI innovation hub to co-develop digital initiatives.
Vi CTO Jagbir Singh stated the collaboration “marks a pivotal milestone” in its digital journey, underlining commitment to AI-led innovation and an ambition to drive growth through intelligent decision making and automation.
Singh noted the AI innovation hub will “play a critical role in modernising our operations and expediting our go-to-market execution of critical business initiatives through faster software development cycles”.
The hub will work closely with the unified dev-ops team to find effective ways to introduce AI into its operations.
Rishi Aurora, managing partner at IBM Consulting India and South Asia, said the tie-up is a significant step in “redefining how AI and automation can transform telecoms operations at scale”.
Working with IBM Consulting’s AI and DevOps staff, the collaboration aims to improve operational efficiencies and fast track digital transformation, Vi added in a statement.
IBM noted it has been working with the operator for 17 years.
