Vodafone Idea (Vi) announced a strategic partnership with IBM on Tuesday to establish an AI Innovation Hub aimed at modernizing operations and accelerating digital initiatives through artificial intelligence and automated DevOps implementation.
The collaboration will focus on streamlining Vi’s operations, improving service reliability, and enhancing customer experiences through AI-powered managed services. The newly created AI Innovation Hub will bring together experts from both companies to develop cutting-edge AI solutions, automation tools, and digital accelerators using IBM’s AI capabilities.
“Our collaboration with IBM marks a pivotal milestone in Vi’s digital journey,” said Jagbir Singh, Chief Technology Officer at Vodafone Idea Limited. The partnership aims to deliver faster software development cycles and establish new industry benchmarks through intelligent decision-making and automation.
IBM Consulting will provide AI and DevOps expertise to help Vi enhance IT agility and unlock new revenue opportunities. The implementation will leverage IBM’s global partner ecosystem and industry knowledge to support continuous innovation while strengthening Vi’s digital resilience.
The partnership extends a 17-year collaboration between the two companies. Vi, a joint venture between Aditya Birla Group and Vodafone Group, operates across 17 circles with 5G spectrum coverage and serves as one of India’s leading telecom providers.
The initiative comes as India’s telecom sector experiences surging data consumption and large-scale 5G deployments, positioning AI and automation as critical enablers for operational efficiency.
