New IBM Quantum Learning expands open-access content library

IBM Quantum Learning is moving to the new IBM Quantum Platform at quantum.cloud.ibm.com/learning

We’re excited to announce that IBM Quantum Learning has completed the first phase of its migration to the new IBM Quantum Platform, hosted on IBM Cloud®. This move not only marks a major upgrade in how we deliver education, but also reaffirms our longstanding commitment to the quantum community, as well as our commitment to enabling quantum education for all.

Since IBM® first put a quantum computer on the cloud and invited the world to explore it in 2016, we’ve led the charge in open quantum education. Now, as the world moves closer and closer to the era of quantum advantage, we’re taking the next step by making our entire learning library freely accessible to the global quantum community.

A streamlined learning experience

As part of the transition to the new IBM Quantum Platform, IBM Quantum Learning now features a cleaner, more intuitive interface that makes it easier than ever to discover, navigate, and engage with content.

Open Plan users can access a growing suite of courses and tutorials tailored to help learners engage with IBM Quantum’s most advanced capabilities. This includes our brand new Quantum Diagonalization Algorithms (QDA) course, which introduces powerful techniques such as sample-based diagonalization and sample-based Krylov subspace methods — approaches designed to unlock quantum advantage on near-term hardware.

In addition to expanding our library of open-access courses and tutorials, we’re also thrilled to launch Qiskit classroom modules — a modular, educator-focused resource designed to bring quantum computing into the classroom. Each module is a self-contained Jupyter notebook that helps students explore fundamental topics in quantum mechanics and computer science using Qiskit.

Modules typically take 1–2 hours to complete and offer:

Clear explanations of core concepts
Qiskit code examples and hands-on exercises
Check-in questions and optional video lectures
Seamless integration into existing course structures

Designed with flexibility in mind, these modules empower educators to introduce quantum content without needing to design entire curricula from scratch.

Our commitment to quantum education

IBM is building toward the era of large-scale, fault-tolerant quantum computing — but it will be you, our users, clients, and partners, who achieve the first real demonstrations of quantum advantage on IBM hardware.

To support that vision, we’ve long offered world-class educational resources free of charge. Now, as our systems grow in scale and sophistication, it’s more important than ever to make sure everyone has the opportunity to keep pace.

Keep in mind that some of our most advanced features and capabilities require significant QPU time. Open Plan users can build foundational understanding through our new tutorials and content — and those on the Premium Plan, Flex Plan, Pay-As-You-Go Plan, or Dedicated Service Plan will get the most benefit from deep experimentation and hands-on access to our latest-generation systems. Transitioning to the new IBM Quantum Platform

As part of our ongoing infrastructure upgrade, the classic IBM Quantum Platform was officially sunset on July 1. The entire platform — including IBM Quantum Learning — is now hosted at quantum.cloud.ibm.com. Today’s offering already includes:

Full access to IBM Quantum Composer
Most of our core learning courses and tutorials
A new feedback feature for content suggestions and issue reporting in GitHub

A few remaining pieces, such as event replays from webinars and major conferences like the annual Quantum Developer Conference, will return later this year. Keep an eye out for further updates.

What’s next?

This is just the beginning. The IBM Quantum education team has ambitious plans for the rest of 2025 and beyond — with more tutorials, courses, and video content on the way. We’re committed to helping you keep up with the rapid evolution of this field, and to ensuring that quantum education remains open, high quality, and accessible to all.

We hope to see many of you at the 5th annual Qiskit Global Summer School taking place over the next two weeks. If you’re just getting started learning about quantum computing, now is the perfect time to visit IBM Quantum Learning and take your next step into the quantum future.
