LuxRender is a completely free, open source, physically based renderer with many contributors led by Jean-Philippe Grimaldi. LuxRender version 1.5 introduces the following features:
– microkernel architecture for significantly faster rendering,
– biased path tracing engine (including tiled rendering, radiance clamping and many more),
– adaptive rendering,
– Intel Embree-based accelerator,
– Laser light source type
– arbitrary clipping planes,
– pointiness option for materials,
– volume priority system,
– hair strand primitives,
– up to 16 times faster exporting for meshes
– new 3Ds max plugin,
– volumetric emission system.
