TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Foxconn and Nvidia are in talks to deploy humanoid robots at a new AI server manufacturing plant in Houston, Reuters reported Friday.

Sources familiar with the matter said the Houston site will build Nvidia’s latest GB300 AI servers. Humanoid robots could be introduced on the line as early as the first quarter, one source said.

This would also be Foxconn’s first AI server factory to use humanoid robots in production. The companies are expected to finalize the deployment plans within the coming months.

According to a Foxconn presentation in May, the robots are being trained to pick and place parts, insert cables, and assist in assembly. However, their role in the plant has not yet been disclosed.

One source said the Houston site is ideal for deploying robots due to its newer design and ample floor space compared to older factories. Nvidia and Foxconn declined to comment on the plans.

Leo Guo (郭柳宗), general manager of Foxconn’s robotics unit, said last month the company will unveil two humanoid robot models at its annual tech showcase in November. One will walk on legs, while the other will use a wheeled AMR base to cut costs.

Nvidia has been expanding its US manufacturing presence, announcing plans in April to partner with Foxconn in Houston and Wistron in Dallas. Both sites are expected to ramp up production within 12 to 15 months.

The move also reflects Nvidia’s broader investment in humanoid robotics. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang (黃仁勳) predicted in March that such robots would become common in manufacturing within five years.
