Artificial intelligence and its applications have taken the world by storm. While global dominance grows, some reputable organisations have already begun incorporating it into procedures and changing the overall structure. In the midst of rising use cases, tech CEOs have been quite vocal in predicting the future of work and jobs including OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.

In an interview with Bloomberg Originals The Circuit with Emily Chang, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman predicted that humanoid robots would soon take over a large number of jobs. He is not alone; CEOs of Google, Microsoft, Anthropic, Nvidia, and others have made similar claims. Here are five such claims.

Sam Altman: Humanoid robots will replace humans

Altman stated that as soon as the humanoid robots will be here, it will fundamentally alter how jobs are performed and who performed them. As AI infrastructure grows smarter, the boundary between physical and cognitive labor blurs. His concern isn’t just about job displacement, but the speed at which it may unfold.

He has also made similar statements hinting that AI may replace whole classes of jobs but had remained positive that he is very confident that people will figure out what to do about that.

Jensen Huang: You’ll lose your job to someone using AI

During the Milken Institute Global Conference, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang stated that the people will not lose their jobs to AI but to someone using AI. As per Huang, the individuals will have to embrace their skills and learn how to use AI tools. He also stated that AI can bring 30-40 million people back to the workforce by automating repetitive tasks.

Dario Amodei: 50% of entry-level white-collar jobs may disappear

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei made headlines previously by claiming that half of all entry-level white-collar jobs could vanish within the next five years to the rapidly growing AI. He also warned that 20% of people may not have jobs.

Sundar Pichai: Innovation over job security

Google CEO Sundar Pichai has also made some diplomatic statements on AI taking over the jobs. During the DealBook Summit, Pichai focused on the challenges of AI advancements. He stated that “the hill is steeper” and that deeper breakthroughs are needed. While he avoided talking about job losses, his complete emphasis was on corporate efficiency and cost savings via AI hints at a future where businesses, not workers, are the primary beneficiaries.

Satya Nadella: AI will raise wages, not replace workers

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella offered an optimistic statement. He stated that AI will “amplify expertise” and lead to higher wages, rather than job cuts. He envisioned AI as a co-pilot, handling routine tasks so humans can focus on creative, high-value work.
