In his latest sit-down interview at the SXSW London, Google DeepMind’s Nobel Laureate CEO Demis Hassabis delved into the AI revolution that is currently happening at scale.
While big techs are adopting Agentic AI for their operations, resulting in layoffs and a potential annihilation of entry-level jobs in the future, graduates and undergraduates are paranoid. Hassabis alleviated some of the concerns, stating how STEM is still significant and students should understand fundamentals in mathematics, physics, and computer science to put it all together. He also remarked upon how the kids growing up during the AI era will adopt and adapt.

During the talk the Google DeepMind CEO stated,
Today’s children will grow up to be AI native, just like how the last generation grew up both mobile and tablet native and previously internet and computer native (which is my era).”
He added,
Kids of that era always seem to adapt to make use of the latest coolest tool.”
On the Big Tech’s plan to expand AI in education, Hassabis stated,
if people are gonna use AI for school and education then lets make it really good for that
Universities might become less relevant.
AI tutors will provide personalized education to anyone, anywhere.
Kids growing up “AI native” will adapt faster than we can imagine.

Speaking of AI Native Kid, the internet is already buzzing with the latest buzzword. Here are a few users discussing the same.
One user notes, “Kids born in the past couple of years will be the AI-native generation.”
Another user remarks, “Gen Alpha will be the first AI Native generation. Can’t wait to see the future these kids build. The curious will thrive.”
One more user online comments, “Gen Alpha is gonna be renamed to GenAI at some point in the next decade. “
Another user elaborates, “From iPad kids to AI natives, the switch is happening as parents let their kids talk to LLMs and find virtual best friends. This is when things really get scary.”
Several users are excited at the prospect of the younger generation achieving greater feats with AI. One user writes, “This is the new way of “programming” computers that is challenging conventions. I can’t wait to see what the next generation of “AI native” kids do with this.”
Another comments, “The current iPad/Roblox/Minecraft generation are really going to change things up too when they enter the workforce.”

Here’s another user who shared how their six year old niece got handy with ChatGPT.
i’m visiting my 6 year old niece & she’s figured out a genius way to use chatgpt. she’s deep in a unicorn phase right now, so she takes a selfie, then asks gpt to add rainbow hair & a unicorn tattoo on her face. while it generates, she calmly explains that “it’s loading,” like it’s the most natural thing in the world.
The user adds,
kids are unintentionally the best prompt engineers… zero fear, infinite imagination, & they treat ai like a magic friend instead of a tool.
