In this post, we will show you how to use You.com AI for productivity and research. If you’re looking for a tool that can assist you with fast and accurate research, complex problem-solving, content creation, and more, You.com is the right choice. It combines the power of large language models (LLMs) with real-time web search to give useful, comprehensive responses to your queries.

How to use You.com AI for productivity and research

What is YOU.com AI?

You.com is an AI-powered productivity engine that assists users in solving complex questions. Founded by AI research scientists Richard Socher and Bryan McCann, You.com takes a unique approach to web-based search. Unlike most AI models that answer queries based on their training data (which can become outdated), You.com pulls live information from the internet and cites the exact websites it retrieves data from.

How to use YOU.com AI for productivity and research

To use You.com AI for productivity and research, follow these steps:

Visit You.comCreate an account (optional)Select the AI Agent/ModelType your queryReview the results

Let us see this in detail.

Visit You.com in your default browser by clicking this link. In the top-right corner, you will see a Sign in option. Click on it and sign up using your Google account, Apple ID, email address, or your organization’s SSO credentials.

You can use You.com without an account, but signing up allows you to personalize your experience and unlock additional features.

Once signed in, you will see You.com’s chat interface, with a query input box at the bottom.

You.com interface

Within this box, you will see three options: Auto, Web, and Attach.

Auto is the default AI Agent/Model setting in You.com. It dynamically selects the most appropriate Agent or Model based on your query. To customize this setting, click on Auto in the query input box, select Custom, and choose from the available AI Agents/Models that best fit your specific needs.Web allows you to customize your web control settings.Attach enables you to upload files for the AI to analyze.

Place your cursor in the query box, type your query, and press Enter. The more detailed your query, the better the response.

Prompt in You.com

You.com will generate a response based on your query.

For web-based queries, it will provide citations to the sources it used. You can click these citations (in the right pane) to verify the information you’ve received.

If you have a follow-up question, type it in the query box and press Enter. The AI will process your follow-up in the context of the ongoing conversation, providing more relevant and connected answers.

Note: The Free Plan on You.com offers 3 premium queries per day, which can be used with its primary agents. The Auto option, while available, is subject to these premium query limits. Upgrading to the Pro Plan provides unlimited access to the Auto, Web, and Attach options, along with other advanced features.

Premium AI Agents on You.com

Compute: Ideal for users who need assistance with mathematical problems, data science tasks, or algorithm development.

The Compute Agent, also known as the Genius Agent, focuses on solving complex, multi-step problems using computational methods. It utilizes Python code for step-by-step problem-solving combined with data visualization through charts and plots. Additionally, the agent explains the reasoning behind its solutions, enabling users to understand the logic behind them.

Research: Ideal for conducting thorough research, gathering information from multiple sources, and obtaining well-cited reports.

You.com Agents

The Research Agent, particularly the ARI (Advanced Research & Insights) agent, is designed for in-depth research tasks. It takes a single prompt and conducts multiple searches across various sources to gather relevant information. It excels in providing comprehensive yet digestible and well-cited reports. Each citation links directly to the relevant section of the source, ensuring transparency and allowing users to verify the information. Additionally, it can compile and present data in comparative tables, making it an ideal tool for tasks like decision-making.

Creative: Ideal for Writers, Content Creators, and anyone involved in creative endeavors seeking inspiration or assistance.

The Creative Agent assists in brainstorming ideas and creative writing. It can transform any concept into an AI-generated image, chart, or plot without the need for specific commands like “draw” or “create”. In essence, it serves as a blank canvas dedicated to AI-powered artistry and visualization.

Custom Agents: You.com also allows creating personalized AI agents tailored to specific tasks. However, users can create and share their own Custom Agents only with a Pro Plan subscription.

I hope you find this useful.

Is YOU.com better than ChatGPT?

Whether You.com is better than ChatGPT depends on what you need.
While both are essentially AI assistants, each has its own pros and cons. In short, if you need fresh information, citations, and live updates, You.com is better. But if you want deep conversations, creative writing, or detailed reasoning without needing real-time info, ChatGPT is the better choice.
