Augment, a startup focused on transforming logistics through artificial intelligence, has announced an $85 million Series A funding round, bringing its total funding to $110 million just five months after emerging from stealth. The round was led by Redpoint Ventures, with additional support from 8VC, Shopify Ventures, Autotech Ventures, and other prominent investors in logistics and AI.
This funding will be used to advance product development, expand hiring across engineering and commercial teams, and broaden the reach of Augie, Augment’s flagship AI teammate.
Augie is designed to automate and streamline logistics workflows from beginning to end. Unlike traditional automation tools that handle isolated tasks, Augie works across the entire order-to-cash process. It understands the context of each shipment, proactively resolves issues, and interacts across multiple systems, including email, phone, transportation management software, portals, and chat. This allows logistics teams to reduce manual workload, shorten cycle times, and focus on more strategic tasks.
The platform supports a wide range of logistics functions, including quoting, dispatching, tracking, appointment scheduling, document collection, and billing. By automating these processes, Augie helps reduce the number of manual touches per load and improves overall operational efficiency.
In just a few months, Augie has been adopted by dozens of leading third-party logistics providers and shippers. It now supports over $35 billion in freight under management. One example is Armstrong Transport Group, a $1.3 billion brokerage, where Augie has significantly improved frontline operations. Employees report that Augie handles tasks reliably, provides relevant context, and flags potential issues before they escalate.
This has led to measurable improvements in productivity, with some representatives doubling or tripling their daily load capacity while maintaining high morale and customer service standards.
Customers are seeing real financial impact from using Augie. Results include a 40 percent reduction in invoice delays, billing cycles shortened by eight days, more than 5% gross margin recovery per load, and potential payroll savings in the millions from reduced track-and-trace labor.
With the new funding, Augment plans to hire over 50 engineers to advance its AI capabilities. The company will also expand Augie’s functionality into multimodal logistics operations and introduce new automation features for sales and back-office tasks. This includes pricing support, customer insights, and deeper integrations with logistics platforms and communication tools. Augment is also building a freight-specific knowledge base to enable more intelligent and more proactive automation.
The company was founded by Harish Abbott, who previously co-founded Deliverr, which Shopify acquired for $2.1 billion. The team includes experts from Shopify, YRC Worldwide, Google, Flexport, and top AI research institutions. Their combined experience in logistics and technology positions Augment to redefine how freight operations are managed.
